Put out lots of content and it should help your social goals, right? Not always. Many forget the key element in social media IS social. If you really want to ramp up your business on social media, keep in mind that audiences engage with brands differently than content creators or those they deem authentic, so you need to work a bit harder as a brand and put community first.
Here are some key tips to getting social on social media as a business:
Speak to your audience with what's relevant to them
Pushing out product post after product post isn’t going to resonate with your audience. Consider content that speaks to them and provokes good conversation.
Community engagement
Engage in two-way conversion. Ask questions through your content to ignite conversation. Reply to comments and direct messages quickly. Don’t shy away from negative comments - where appropriate respond.
Engage in conversation online, past your channels
Widen your reach by engaging in profiles related to your business. This includes commenting on relevant topics, liking posts and sharing in your stories. This helps to show you are engaged in your industry community and broadens your reach.
Be present
It's not enough to post once a month and then forget about it. Make sure you are regularly posting and engaging in the channels you are on as much as possible. Minimum 3 days a week, with 5-7 days a week being ideal.
